School-Based mentoring is an in-school program pairing school-referred elementary-aged children to carefully screened, trained, and paired volunteer mentors called “Bigs”. The mentor will meet his/her assigned child, called “Littles” on a weekly basis at the child's school during the lunch period. Volunteers are asked to commit to a minimum of one school year and only meet on school premises, during the academic year. The goal of the program is to aid the child to thrive within the school environment and support social and emotional development. The “match” may transition to the Community-Based program, where matches meet and spend time outside of school premises, with parental approval. Each relationship is goal-oriented and supported by a degreed, trained professional. To learn more, please click here.
