Free Gun Locks!
In an effort to encourage responsible ownership of guns and reduce accidental deaths, free gun locks are being distributed by Mental Health America. Locks are available at the MHA office between 8 a.m. - 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. Limit one per household.
A collaborative effort of Prevent Suicide Wisconsin, the Kubly Foundation, Project ChildSafe, Mental Health Committee of Healthy Sheboygan County 2020 and Mental Health America in Sheboygan County.
 
 
2012 Directory of Community Resources
The newly revised Directory of Community Resources is now available online. The 73 page directory is the county's most comprehensive guide for community resources, and includes information about agencies, organizations, support groups, and schools. NARSAD notecards
MHA has a variety of NARSAD boxed notecards for sale. The designs have been created by persons with a mental illness. For only $6.50 for a set of 10 cards, you can brighten someone's day and support mental illness research at the same time!

Ongoing Support Groups
The following peer led support groups are available to those who could benefit. There is no charge to participate. Meetings take place once a month in the community meeting room of the United Way building, 2020 Erie Avenue, Sheboygan. For additional information, contact MHA at 458-3951.
  • Compassionate Parents for bereaved parents: Second Monday of the month at 7 p.m.
  • National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI): Third Thursday of the month at 7 p.m.
  • Suicide Loss Support Group: Last Monday of the month at 7 p.m.
  • Health and Hope Support Group: A six-week support group for adults currently receiving treatment for depression. The group is offered throughout the year at various times. Call for information.
 
 
Tuesday, February 21
6:30 - 8 p.m.
Health and Hope Support Group
A free, six-week series for adults being treated for depression by a family doctor, therapist, or psychiatrist. Facilitated by Alexandra Liosatos of Novo Counseling, LLC in Sheboygan.
  • Experience a safe place to talk about issues related to depression
  • Receive support from others who understand
  • Gather useful information to help you regain your health

Balancing Act with Barb Bartlein        
 

Make time for good mental health! MHA invites you to treat yourself on the first day of Mental Health Month by attending a breakfast program featuring Barb Bartlein, registered nurse, therapist, and entrepreneur who happens to have a great sense of humor. During her program "Balancing Act," you will laugh your way through an exploration of the demands of work and home, relationships, and setting realistic limits.

WalMart on South Taylor Drive, Sheboygan

Beavioral health professionals from Aurora Sheboygan Memorial Medical Center will be sponsoring "Brats, Burgers, 'n Baked Goods" at the South-side WalMart. The charity event benefits the emergency Medication Account of Mental Health America.

9 a.m. - Opening ceremony

There is Hope

The 7th annual There is Hope walk for suicide awareness and prevention takes place at a new location this year - Sheboygan's scenic lakefront! Deland Park will serve as the starting point for the two-mile walk. Registration begins at 8 a.m. The opening ceremony at 9 a.m. will feature Billie Kubly, who co-founded the Charles E. Kubly Foundation following the loss of her son. The event is open to both the public and those who have registered to walk. Food, music, information booths, bucket raffles, silent auction items and much more! Registration forms will be available online at a later date.
